SSpring’s Second Dawn: A Diploma Project on Emotional Space and Sustainable Stage Design
This diploma project explores how emotional storytelling and sustainable architecture can coexist in the design of a large-scale concert experience. Drawing inspiration from BTS’s anniversary comeback and the symbolic return to spring, the work is composed of two intertwined parts: a 3D-animated VCR and an eco-conscious concert stage.
The VCR uses 3D animation to trace the group’s emotional and symbolic journey — from the fleeting oases of Run and Young Forever, through the isolating geometry of military service, to a transformative moment of self-reflection inspired by Black Swan. Snow melts into sakura blossoms. A mirror becomes a doorway. The members walk into the light — a visual metaphor for reunion and rebirth.
At the heart of this project lies the architectural proposal: a stage that emerges like a flower from the earth, crafted from steel and covered in natural materials like soil and grass. Designed to blend harmoniously with the valley landscape, the stage serves both as a concert platform and a permanent, eco-sustainable festival space. Its minimal environmental footprint and symbolic form echo the themes of growth, return, and grounded connection between artist and audience.
Combining spatial symbolism, emotional rhythm, and ecological responsibility, this project reflects a new approach to performance architecture — one rooted not only in function, but in meaning.
